Assignment 01A – Triangle Calculator

ALIGNMENT: The purpose of this assignment is to provide practice with variables, getting user input and displaying formatted output. You will also need to cast (convert) data types from string to float (with the input) and vice-versa (with the output).

 

ASSIGNMENT: In this assignment, you will write a Python 3.x program to calculate the length of the hypotenuse (side C) of a right triangle, given the lengths of the other two sides (A & B) as provided by the user. The program will also calculate the area of the triangle and the perimeter (the sum of the three sides). Other specifications:

  • Save your file with as “CIS156_01A_Triangle_YourLastName.py”

  • Print the project tile on the first line

  • Print the next line showing your name as the developer, followed by a blank line (remember you can use \n)

  • Then provide a description of what the program

  • The user should be prompted to enter the length of sideA and then prompted to enter

  • Convert the string input to float data

  • Write statements that use math operations to calculate the hypotenuse, area, and Remember the Pythagorean Theorem? . . . C2 = A2 + B2 …. Or….. C = square root of A2 + B2 (by the way the square root is the same as the value raised to the power of 0.5)

The area is half of sideA length * sideB length. The perimeter is the sum of the three sides.
