NC lottery by the numbers: Top prizes claimed in state, US

Since 2005, there has been a lottery for education in North Carolina.

Van Denton, NC Education Lottery director of corporate relations, said many North Carolinians have won the lottery many times.

"Most frequent players over the previous 16 years have won several lottery prizes," he added.

Last year, the lottery awarded $2.54 billion, or $6.9 million each day. Our state has several winners daily.
