Tampa man wins $1M from Publix Powerball ticket

After buying a Powerball lottery ticket at a Publix store in Tampa, a guy now has a $1 million windfall.

The Florida Lottery reports that Ronald Carlson, 62, of Tampa, claimed a $1 million prize from the Oct. 10, 2022, Powerball drawing.

The likelihood that he would win the $1 million was 1 in 11,688,053.52.

All five of the white ball numbers on his winning ticket were correct, but the Power Ball number was not.

Carlson purchased his $1 million Powerball winning ticket at the Tampa Publix at 12024 Anderson Road.

For selling him the ticket, the store will receive a $1,000 additional commission.

The estimated $653 million jackpot will be awarded in the upcoming Powerball drawing on Wednesday at 10:59 p.m. ET.

For this drawing, tickets must be purchased by 10:00 p.m. ET.
