Mystery Mega Millions winner shows up to claim her prize at NC lottery headquarters

According to N.C. lottery officials, the $1 million Mega Millions mystery winner appeared at lottery headquarters in Raleigh on Friday to pick up her award.

Since the lottery declared that someone had won the reward in January, the person has remained anonymous.

According to a lottery press release, she was identified as Charlotte resident Tiffany Vaughn, who purchased her $2 Quick Pick ticket at Kwick Mart on Albemarle Road.

Vaughn matched the numbers on five white balls to win her reward in the drawing on January 13th, according to organisers.

According to NCLottery.com's website for the Mega Millions game, she outperformed the odds of 1 in 12.6 million.

When she accepted her reward, Vaughn didn't specify what she would do with the cash. The Charlotte Observer was unable to get in touch with her on Saturday.

She received $712,503 after taxes, according to the lottery.

The Mega Millions page states that no one won the jackpot in Friday's drawing, which increased to $67 million in cash on Tuesday.
