Lottery player says he plans to help people in need after big Powerball win in NC  

A North Carolina Powerball winner has stated that he wants to utilise his winnings to help others.

According to the North Carolina Education Lottery, Danny Lackey of Greensboro won $50,000 in the Powerball drawing on February 4.

According to a press statement from the North Carolina Education Lottery, Lackey, who claimed his prize on February 10, said he intends to utilise his earnings to assist others in need.

He said to the lottery administrators, "We've got a number of persons we have selected that we want to help out.

Lackey reported using the North Carolina lottery's mobile app to purchase his $3 Quick Pick ticket.

According to the press release, once he won, he admitted to his wife that he "may not have communicated" to her that he was purchasing the tickets online but that he had also just won $100,000.

According to the press release, there are six games in North Carolina where fans can buy tickets offline or online.

According to the press release, Lackey received $71,251 after federal and state taxes were withheld. About 80 miles to the northwest of Raleigh sits Greensboro.
