Alabama Champion: Hope Lodge provides comfort for cancer patients

Those who are struggling can find courage and hope through deeds of compassion.

At Hope Lodge, Lee Mathews and volunteers from Vestavia Hills Methodist Church carry out this work.

Cancer sufferers are welcome to stay there for free while receiving treatment.

Mathews has assisted in delivering hot meals to the cancer patients twice a month for the past 20 years.

Along with other volunteers, she lifts the spirits of cancer patients with a smile and a nice chat.

The patients reportedly enjoy and find the dinners to be great.

These patients can forget about their journey for approximately an hour or two and concentrate on making friends and enjoying nice food.

Many people think that sharing laughing is a key factor in the healing process.
